Troy “Squirt” Manners At U.S. Drift

Editor note: Usually I try to write recaps of what the Blasfome Team is doing over the weekend. Drifter Troy Manners lent me a hand this week and wrote this dope recap of his weekend at Englishtown, NJ for the U.S. Drift event.
“This weekend was my first competition of the year for U.S drift. I went out for top 16 practice and drove as much as I could because I am still learning this car because it is pretty much all different from last year. In top 16 practice I was feeling pretty good and was really nailing all the clips and throwing a lot of angle. Then it was time to qualify.
On my first run I bobbled a bit on entry and really wasn’t on the clips very well. My nerves kind of got the best of me. On my second run I left the line and started up shifting and couldn’t get the car in third gear. I initiated late and not fast enough. I clutched kicked the car hard and at that point I was pretty pissed. So I pretty much scraped every clip on the whole track at full lock and drove probably the best run of the day but I’m sure I lost points for the entry or I would have qualified high. I ended up qualifying 8th.
After qualifying it started raining hard and it was time for top 16. I was going in blind on where to set the car for the slippery conditions and I was up first in top 16. I won top 16 because the dude that was following me spun. In top 8 I was up against James Evans who is a really good driver. He hadnt driven in the wet yet and I didn’t know if he would spin or not so i gave him a gap and held the same distance the whole run, then he followed me and apparently he was closer so they gave him the win. I was kind of bummed out but looking forward to next round at Summit Point in a few weeks.”...

Its going a few day before I get all of the video together for a recap video of the Clublooseii Mother’s Day Massacre. In mean time I want to thank everyone that came out to the event. It wouldn’t be possible without all of you. After what seemed like a rocky start you guys came through bringing way more drivers and spectators than we imagined. Considering the weather that’s a huge accomplishment.

Thursday Bike Ride With Uncle Arlo

The Blasfamily’s own Uncle Arlo has been putting down some rubber this summer on his new bike. I had yet to put any real miles on the road bike I had just picked up, so we decided to take a ride. Here is a Gopro pic from our mini adventure for the day. It was a nice relaxing ride and turned out to be exactly what I needed to get my mind right after a stressful week. I can’t wait to do it again next week....

Pinnacle Fighting Championship – Pittsburgh Challenge Series 3

June 29, 2013 Pinnacle Fighting Championship will be hosting its third event here in Pittsburgh. The last two have been fucking awesome so I imagine that this one will be the same. Here is what the card is shaping up to be Wright vs Cantolina for the 145lbs amateur title, Mitchell vs Shuman for the 155lbs amateur title, the “Fan Favorite” bout will be Healy vs Worthy and of course Cherico vs Walker will be the Professional Main Event. The full card will be announced shortly. Everything is going to take place at the Iceoplex in Southpointe 114 Southpointe Blvd. in lovely “Guntown” a.k.a. Canonsburg, PA. Doors are at 6pm and the ass kicking begins at 7 pm. Blasfome will of course be there manning the our booth and cheering on Mark. For more info and tickets head over to Pinnaclefightingchampionships.com Its well worth the ticket price....

Chimaira at Club Zoo Pittsburgh

My last attempt to attend a show at Club Zoo resulted in our crew bailing early due the number of underage kids dry humping each other to rap music. I knew that the Chimaira show was going to be different, but I was still a little apprehensive as we waited in line to get in.
Once in the club I was pleasantly surprise the place was packed to the gills with metal heads of all ages and no one was dry humping or at least not in plain sight. Already my experience was looking up.
I was at the show to meet up with Jeremy Creamer and Austin D’Amond bass player and drummer for the one and only Chimaria. Blasfome is sponsoring these guys on tour this summer and I was meeting them to catch the show and drop off some new gear.
The show fucking ripped. As always Chimaira killed it. It was awesome to see friends of ours performing on the same stage that I had seen so many bands play on as a kid. We hung out side stage until Jeremy and Austin were done performing and then headed out to the tour bus where we could hear each other talk and catch up.
We chilled on the bus until the show was wrapping up and everyone was getting ready to head in different directions. Jeremy was on his way home to get some proper rest in his own bed while the rest of the band took a mini detour off to their hometown of Cleveland to do the same. Me, I ended up riding home in the back of a decommissioned cab with my boy Doman and his entirely too wasted stripper friend. It was an interesting night.
