Andrew Fedorchack (Andy) was a great friend of mine. I’ll never forget the day I met him. I was between 12 and 13 years old which would have made Andy somewhere around 7 or 8 years old. He was maybe 4 feet tall and looked all of 5 years old. We rode BMX bikes and he rode skateboards with some friends of ours. He immediately became a staple in our crew. His raw determination, fearless demeanor and out right stubbornness made him a great fit. He would hurl himself off of obstacle after obstacle and get up over and over again. He would pick up his skateboard and scream at whatever obstacle he was trying to conquer as if to let it know that it would have to kill him before he would relent. He would repeat this all day until he was bloody and could barely skate anymore and then someone would drive him home. This was the way it was every time I hung out with him and I think its a pretty good description of the way Andy lived his life. Andy went hard at everything he did. I think that’s the lesson I learned from Andy.
Please join us to celebrate my good friends life at the South Park Skate Park this Saturday November 19 from 2 to 4 pm..
